Sažetak

Arheologija podrazumijeva istraživanje ljudske prošlosti na osnovu njenih materijalnih tragova, i arheolozi učestvuju u stvaranju slika o prošlosti, zasnivajući svoje zaključke prvenstveno na ovoj vrsti podataka. S druge strane, sami arheolozi u svojem poslu koriste artefakta, stvarajući na taj način svoj sopstveni skup materijalne kulture, koji odslikava druge aspekte  njihovog identiteta, i koji je jednako podložan posmatranju arheološkim sredstvima i metodama. Tekst govori o Maršaltaun mistrijama koje su iz SAD došle u zemlje bivše Jugoslavije sa velikim međunarodnim projektima krajem sedamdesetih godina.  Ovaj tipičan dio arheološke terenske opreme posmatra se kao pokazatelj uticaja između profesionalnih arheoloških zajednica. Karakteristično je da je ta terenska alatka mnogo lakše nalazila put do domaćih arheologa, nego što je to bilo sa novim teorijskim modelima, takođe ponuđenim od strane sjevernoameričkih i britanskih istraživača. Ovom interesantnom fenomenu je u tekstu posvećena posebna pažnja.
