A Contribution for studies of the early Metallurgy of the Central Bosnia
##plugins.themes.academic_pro.article.main##
Abstract
The latest archaeological research in the middle Danube region, western Serbia and central Bosnia gave a clearer picture of their mutual connections and influences in the Younger Neolithic and Early Eneolithic cultures. Observing the connections between these three regions, the "Podrinja variant" of the Vinča culture and its relationship to the Butmir culture is primarily important for us. Broader consideration of their temporal and chronological connections indicates early contacts and very intense connections in the late stages of the Younger Neolithic. The results of research in central Bosnia are extremely important for the issues of these epochs, because it is an area of contact and demarcation of Balkan and Adriatic cultural influences. When we talk about these relationships, a particular problem arises early metallization in the developed Neolithic. We have known for decades that copper was independently processed in the Vinča settlements of the Tuzla basin, while within the Butmir cultural group, until recently, we did not have similar data. We rightly wondered how it was possible for the holders of the Vinča cultural group for many centuries, almost more than a thousand years, to exchange ceramic pots with the Neolithic inhabitants of central Bosnia, without ever revealing to them their copper exploitation skills?
