Abstract

For almost 130 years, archaeological research has been systematically carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a knowledge base related to prehistoric sites and findings from this part of the Balkan Peninsula has been accumulated. The leading archaeologists of the second half of the twentieth century wrote about the Kakan and Butmir culture as the most prominent representatives of the Neolithic era in BiH. Unique vessels - rhytons - entered the world archaeological literature, which enchanted experts and the cultural public, but also relegated to the background the truly less attractive sites of Starčevo culture, which are also found in Bosnia. In this paper, we will talk about exactly those sites.
