Prof. Danijel Džino

Professor Džino is a historian and archaeologist. He completed his BA (Honours) (1997–2000), MA (2001), and PhD (2002–2005) in Classics at the University of Adelaide. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide (2006–2009). Since 2010 he is employed as a Lecturer in the Department of History and Archaeology, School of Humanities, Macquarie University, Sydney.
Professor Džino's academic interests include the archaeology and history of the eastern Adriatic coast and its hinterland, from the Late Iron Age, through the Roman period and Late Antiquity, to the Early Middle Ages up to the twelfth century. Thematically, he focuses on the study of collective identities, political elites and structures, administrative organisation, and the exercise of power.
He is the author of over one hundred scholarly works, including several major monographs and co-edited scholarly volumes. He is a member of the Croatian Archaeological Society, the Croatian Society for Byzantine Studies, and the Australasian Association for Byzantine Studies, of which he is currently the president.
